Today we had our home at the Vernal golf course. Today was also the day we whitewashed the U before the homecoming game this Friday night.  That was fun, although I got away without getting any paint on my body. After the hamburger lunch, we went home and got ready for the race. At the course, I asked coach Henderson what he wanted the varsity team to do. He wanted us to focus on pacing and getting negative mile splits. The first mile, Jordan and Austin led us to a 5:48. The second mile was Christians time to shine. We kind of got off pace a little after a mile and half, so I decided to break from the pack and keep the pace so I could negative split. Second mile ended up at 5:43. Could've been faster but it is what it is. Starting the third and final mile, I was feeling good. I decided to give it what I had and go nuts. I let the hill take me down with around .75 miles to go and I ended up running faster that the golf cart which was leading us could drive. As I passed it, I looked at my watch to check my pace. 4:50. No wonder I flew by a cart that maxes out at 12 mph. When the hill ended, the cart got back in front and I had about half a mile left. I decided to finish hard and kick with 150m to go. That was one of the strongest finishes I've had all season. Final time ended up being 16:31 with the final mile around 5:13. I hadn't realized how far ahead I got until I saw Aaron take second place 45 seconds behind me. All in all, it was a good race. I enjoyed packing with my bois for the first half and going crazy. After cheering the girls in their race, I decided to run to my house which is only a mile away for a cooldown. Everyone thought I was crazy but it wasn't too bad. Glad I was able to do so well at my home meet of the year.
